Final Fantasy X - Monster Arena: Jumbo Flan (Part 1)

Part 2:    • Final Fantasy X - Monster Arena: Jumb...

Oh god, Jumbo Flan. I forgot why he was so annoying, but quickly rememberd as the battle began. This fight takes a long time without Aeons or maxed out Magic, and ended up being almost 12 minutes, so thanks to Youtubes stupid limit, I have to split this in two parts.

So obviously Flans rely on magic, so Shell is important. Of course, the disadvantage of Shell is Curaga heals less. But better than dying. I found out quick that he's Immune to physical attacks. Yea, immune, not just a high defense. Guess what that means. Stuck with magic attacks. Fortunately, it appears Holy does a decent amount of damage to him, since I haven't learned Ultima yet (Too lazy to get more Level 4 Key Spheres).

Anyway, he's always in Reflect status. I found out the hard way by trying to hit it with Holy. You can't Dispel it either. So how do you hurt this thing? Simple, cast Relfect on someone and bounce the magic off of them. So I choose Yuna. Unfortunately I used Curaga on her once forgetting it would bounce off, so to heal her I had to use up an X-Potion, no biggie, got 40 of them.

It's pretty ironic that in a recent previous fight I said "What fight would you ever need more than 999 MP for", and then this fight comes up. But still, Yuna can cast magic at 1 MP, so it's still not an excuse to ever need Break MP Limit. Not to mention you can use Osmose to have someone get 999 MP back (I know, I screwed it up once in the video). I also tried Overdrives just to see what happens. It can damage it, but so little it's never worth it.

It also casts Regen on itself eventually, which I found out you CAN Dispel. And its most damaging attack is Ultima, which doesn't kill me with Shell status. So eventually I started having Tidus and Wakka use Focus when they got low on MP, to boost Yuna's Holy attack, it works pretty well. And as a last note, one small change to Tidus' status. I added Auto-Protect and Auto-Phoenix to his ultimate armor I was making, so now his is complete. All I have to do now is make him an ultimate status armor, and he'll have the 3 ultimate armors (elemental, status, normalish...).

And last but not least, this is the last fight I'm uploading now, I'm too tired to unlock any others right now, and unfortunately, if Final Mix comes today, I won't be playing this for a good week. So enjoy, nontheless.

Note: Don't tell me how underleveld or overleved I am, or how I should have used Aeons, or other strategies. This wasn't a speed run fight, or wasn't a challenge fight.

Note2: Don't tell me I should have used a certain weapon or armor, I'm well aware of what would be best, I just am too lazy to do it at the moment.

Note3: Look at    • Final Fantasy X - Monster Arena: Tanket   to see my current stats before the fight. Any changes made between them are shown in the actual video.
