This month marks eight years since the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) first-ever menopause guidelines were published in a bid to improve the consistency of support and information provided to women during the menopause.

The guidelines were developed for healthcare professionals, and for women themselves, and cover menopause diagnosis and management.

In this video to coincide with the anniversary, Dr Louise Newson and Newson Health Chief Clinical Officer and Operations Director Katy Jackson discuss:

Key recommendations included in the NICE menopause guidelines, including HRT, menopause-related low mood and testosterone
How the NICE guidelines are used in practice at Newson Health
The importance of individualised care, and shared decision making
