NHLBI ICTR SHORT VIDEO #4: FUTILITY STOPPING

Описание к видео NHLBI ICTR SHORT VIDEO #4: FUTILITY STOPPING

When evidence emerges that an ongoing clinical trial is unlikely to meet its objective, a futility rule terminating the trial protects patients and saves resources. Patients are spared potential side effects of a ineffective treatment and may enroll in more promising trials, while sponsors can save 20-50% or more of the cost of going to the maximal sample size. In this short video Dr. Anna McGlothlin will present examples of futility rules, examine the trade-off between sample size savings and power, and illustrate graphical tools for exploring and selecting rules in practice.
