One Life to Live 1/3/1989

Megan apologizes to Mari Lynn for brushing her off. Mari Lynn confides that she’s concerned about her relationship with Wade; they had a big fight this morning after he stayed out late with Christine. Wade comes to the studio and they continue to argue about Christine; Mari Lynn asks if he is having an affair. Wade insists he and Christine are just friends, and when Mari Lynn pushes, he storms out. The sheriff yells at Tina for the distraction she caused that allowed Clint to steal a snowmobile. Cord shows up at the ranger station in time to hear the sheriff threaten to arrest Tina if she pulls another stunt like that. When Cord pushes back—literally—the sheriff orders the rangers to put both Cord and Tina in lockup. At the hospital, Christine asks Larry if there’s any news about her father. Larry has no news on Leo’s location, but he reiterates that if Leo doesn’t get medical attention, he will die of his infection.

Asa instructs his butler to pack all of Bo’s possessions and put them outside. Renee lays down the law: if Bo goes, she goes too. They are interrupted by a call from Cord asking to be bailed out. Asa heads to the ranger station and bails out Cord and Tina. Once again we see Viki wake up and introduce herself as Niki Smith, her inner voice tells us she is still Viki and is merely pretending to be Niki. The masked man, whom we now know is Michael, asks Niki for the location she was “born.” Michael, Lysander, and Arthur threaten Niki if she doesn’t comply. Viki doesn’t know the place they’re looking for, but she realizes she and “Niki” need to keep leading the men on. She sets the men digging at a random location in hopes of placating them. Roger arrives at the cave where they first took Viki and is relieved to find no blood or signs that she has been harmed. He sets back off into the snowstorm, attempting to follow the footprints. Michael realizes Viki is just pretending to be Niki Smith, she tries to remove his mask, covertly steals his Eterna pin, and then manages to run off. After her escape, Viki gets lost in the snow, she stumbles, hits her head on a rock, and is unconscious, face down, in the snow.
