The Los Angeles Dodgers' $108,000 bonus rookie Frank Howard is still in the doghouse for failing (ROLL & TAKE IT) to show up for spring game Sunday. He made it clear that he was unhappy about being left behind while the Los Angeles "A" team was playing-elsewhere.
General manager Buzzy Bavasi says he's unhappy about the incident because people paid admission to the game that Howard walked out on. Bavasi says he can't have one set of rules for Howard and another for the other players.
Most of the veteran Dodgers feel confident they'll be in the thick of the pennant race. The Dodgers are counting on such men as infielder Norm Larker. He batted .289.
Outfielder Rip Repulski should give them help.... Infielder Don Zimmer will have to get more batting punch to do some good....
Infielder Charlie Neal batted .287 last year and is a dangerous base runner....
Then, there's the veteran Duke Snider. He hit .308 and slammed out 23 homers.......
Chuck Essegian can find the range he could be a first stringer......
One of the mainstays of that Dodger pitching staff will definitely be Don Drysdale. The hard-throwing righthander won 17 games for Los Angeles last season.
LA will be hard to handle this year for sure......
