"Hardware Accessibility" is a self-coined term to describe how accessible the system requirements are for software. With technology constantly improving video games are becoming increasingly demanding in terms of the minimum system requirements. How is this affecting their ability to reach audiences and develop communities around them?

In this talk, we will identify the common issues players may face and discuss the impact that hardware accessibility might have on them. We'll discuss the tools and techniques developers can employ to allow for minimising the system requirements for their games.

This presentation is part of the 'Preparing for Professionalism in Programming' session    • Preparing for Professionalism in Prog...   which also includes:

Jack Barnard

Originally a student of Computer Science, Jack switched to Software Engineering to pursue his love of coding but ended up discovering a distaste for web development. With three years of IT support under his belt Jack has developed a keen understanding of the end user and their innate ability to do the unexpected.

With a long standing desire for a career in the games industry Jack found an opportunity to go self-employed for his placement, establishing a one-man game studio with questionable levels of success. For his dissertation, Jack is building on some of the work he did last year, creating a system for remote controlled Unity applications.
