End Violence Against Children
Violence against children is everywhere. It happens in all countries, at all levels of society. Despite its global prevalence, violence against children all too often remains invisible because it's hidden behind closed doors or because people turn a blind eye to it.
Violence affects children's physical and mental health, compromises their ability to learn and socialize, and undermines their development as functional adults and good parents later in life. But violence against children is entirely preventable when people come together and say that it is not acceptable.
In the light of this and the horrific incidents of violence against children over the last year which have hit the headlines in India, USA, Afghanistan, China, Syria and Nigeria to name but a few countries, UNICEF is launching the End Violence Against Children initiative, to raise awareness about the issue of violence against children, to provide concrete actions to bring an end to the problem, and to put a spotlight on local efforts of UNICEF offices and partners, encouraging all audiences to join a global movement against violence.
