Selling Your Story: How I Got onto MA Illustration Online at Falmouth University

In this video I look at how I managed to get onto MA Illustration Online at Falmouth University in 2018, despite studying BA Japanese as my university degree. I also mention the cost of the MA, and how to reduce it.

I think that finding linking elements in my background and relating them to my interest in Illustration helped make me an interesting candidate for the course. This isn't the most fascinating video, but even if you're not thinking to study illustration, showing how your interests feed into your illustration is a good skill to have!


Ideas on How to Sell Your Story:

・Relate your various interests to your artwork

・Talk about the qualities which make you you!
・Talk about how your interests and experiences inform your art
・Talk about how/why you made the images in your portfolio

・Remember that it's ok to wear many hats. We often have different interests or experiences and we may not be full time illustrators. That's ok. What's important is demonstrating how those experiences weave together to inform your illustration.
