Golden Rock Pagoda/ Kyaiktiyo Pagoda

This vedio is all about Kyaiktiyo Pagoda. #Kyaiktiyo pagoda also known as #Golden Rock Pagoda. this is well known buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State , Burma. it is a small pagoda built on the top of the granite boulder covered with gold leaves pasted by male devotees. its circumference 15 m and height 25 m . The pagoda was built more then 2500 years ago.This destination is 160km away from Pagoda.

Legend has it that the Pagoda was built on a hair relic that was given to a hermit by Buddha itself. Another legend states that a Buddhist priest impressed the celestial king with his asceticism and the celestial king used his supernatural powers to carry the rock to it's current place, specifically choosing the rock as the resemblance to the monks head. it is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma after the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Woman's are not allowed into the inner sanctuary of the rock vincinity maintained by an employed security guard who watches over the entrance gate. Women are permitted in the outer balcony and the lower courtyard of the rock.

Although Pagoda is small in size , it is one of the most revered and celebrated Pagoda in Myanmar.
