Описание к видео Selecting your first binoculars for birdwatching - The 5 things you need to know

Neil Hermes shares his recommendation in buying your first pair of binoculars to go birdwatching. Neil breaks down the 5 things you need to know to make the best decision. He explains what all the numbers mean, and what to look out for to get the best bang for buck and have the best birdwatching experience.

1. Magnification - Select 7 or 8 times magnification that feels good to hold and is good weight.
2. Brightness - This will largely determine the objective lens size which will probably be about 40-50mm.
3. Field of view - Then select the widest field of view available.
A good beginner's choice would be 8*42 and a 7° field of view (e.g. 8x42 - 7°)
4. Comfort - Get a pair that feels comfortable for your hands and in weight
5. Price - A good pair of new binoculars with these specifications could be found in range of $150-$300
