2008 Kia Spectra: Front Strut Replacement

Описание к видео 2008 Kia Spectra: Front Strut Replacement

Hi everybody, and welcome to my "stevenofpa" YouTube Channel!

This video shows you what it's like to see this 2008 Hyundai Kia Spectra 4-door sedan economy car vehicle, and you can see how to replace the front strut assembly on the right front side of the car. It's a pretty easy job to do under normal circumstances, when you have all the right parts and all the right tools, and when everything goes smoothly because the parts are not stuck rusted old dirty damaged or siezed seized, but in this particular vehicle, they don't always go as planned. In this case, we had one of the bottom bolts for the camber adjustment, the lower strut attaching bolt, was seize in place and had to be removed specially using rust penetrant spray called PB Blaster and also an impact gun air wrench with a 1/2 inch drive mechanism and a 17mm socket and a large hammer to drive it out. Then when it was put back in, the bolt broke! That's right, it just snapped right in half! What do you know! Wow, things like that just happen sometimes, ya heard? Ok, so luckily we had some extra bolts of the correct right size and shape in stock, so were were able to get it back together enough to drive the car temporarily until a new correct bolt with a shoulder could be ordered and installed, which should only take a day or so to arrive. But in the mean time, this is ok good great wonderful, tremendous, fabulous, awesome and neat neato neat-o, OTHER KEYWORDS, automotive, automobile, car, truck, suv, crossover, fix, repair, diagnose, mechanic, technician, electrician, electrical, mechanical, mechanism, technical, tech, work, change out parts, replace parts, update, make new, out with the old, in with the new, watch and learn, see and hear, see and do, how to do it yourself, homeowner, driveway mechanic, backyard, saturday fixer, weekend warrior, always wear your safety glasses, use jack stands, don't take a chance, professional mechanic, learn from the best, pro, pros, etc...
So, now let's learn about the reason why this strut shock spring assembly front end suspension component needed to be replaced in the first place anyway. At the end of the video you can see close up of the strut and how it failed, First, the upper strut mount bearing is bad, it's very rough, makes noise, and is wobbly. Also the strut rod center piston of the strut was probably being pressed to one side during operation, and it wore against the seal bushing bearing surface and wore out an oblong groove in this piston housing, as the vehicle was would be driven down the road, you'd hear a loud bump bang sound when driving over bumps or pot holes potholes, and it was coming from the rf right front of the car. So after taking it apart to see what was going on, we noticed this strut was worn out pretty bad and the cylinder was damaged, causing the terrible noise. Now with a new one the problem will go away, and hopefully will not come back again.
