University of Pennsylvania Associate Professor Amalia Dache claims the Cuban regime is on the “brink of collapse” as starving people hit the streets to protest.

Cuba’s communist leadership is facing a fierce backlash that has not been seen since similar protests in July 2021.

These protests, which began over economic hardships and government repression, have now evolved into a broader call for political reform.

Ms Cache said the Cuban regime is constantly trying to blame the embargo, but it does not control food on the island.

“They control everything that doesn't come to the Cuban people,” she told Sky News Australia.

“Even humanitarian aid, when it's allowed, it's controlled by the Cuban regime. So that has been that discourse that has also tied to these economic critiques.”
