I Played a World Champion

Divya Deshmukh is an International Master from India with a live rating of 2500 making her the 20th strongest female chess player in the world.

She is the 2024 Under-20 World Female Champion and recently (September 2024) won the Gold Medal for India in the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary with a legendary score of 10/11.

This was the best score of any individual on the Indian team and on any board 3 letting her lift India to Gold and herself - winning an individual gold medal for her outstanding performance.

In this video, I had the chance to play Divya before all the fame a few months back in the small island of Menorca, in Spain in which one of the strongest open tournaments of the year was held - The Menorca Open.

After winning our first two games in the Nocturnal blitz side event, Divya and I were paired against each other.
