SJE-Tools Fretboard Radiusing Router Bit Demonstration

Описание к видео SJE-Tools Fretboard Radiusing Router Bit Demonstration

Hey all - so there has been quite a bit of interest in the router radiusing bits, however there has also been some confusion/questions over exactly how they should be used.

Firstly given the thickness of a fretboard blank I would never recommend that you just run the blank alone against fence. As you'll see in this video I use an aluminium 90 degree straight edge with the blank double sided taped to it. This not only give a perfectly true edge to work to but it also ensures your blank is a true 90 degree to the router table. Any kind of straight and square edge will suffice be it wood, metal or plastic.

Also I think it goes without saying but the fretboard blank need to be level to whatever it is attached.

The other thing I've realised I forgot to mention in the video is raising the router bit so the tip of the blade is on the centre of the board. Personally I just measured the width of the board (72mm in my case) and measured the height of the bit tip with a combination square with a bubble level to ensure I was at exactly 36mm.

Cheers
