Lycoming Valley Railroad: LV-2 and the Avis Turn

Описание к видео Lycoming Valley Railroad: LV-2 and the Avis Turn

On November 2, 2018, my boy Kyle and I made the 3 hour drive from his house in Hamilton, NJ to Williamsport, PA with intentions on shooting the Lycoming Valley Railroad's Muncy Turn, also known as LV-2, which runs from Newberry Yard in Williamsport to Montgomery, PA and back, with work at several industries on the way as they make their run on the Lycoming Secondary. LV-2's power for today was a pair of former SP GP35Rs, LVRR 2011 and 2016, both in matching Reading "Bee-Line" inspired paint, making for a sweet duo for our chase..

We caught up to LV-2 outside of Williamsport in Montoursville, seen crossing the Loyalsock Creek with the two GP35Rs and 12 cars. We chase them to Hiller Road in Montoursville as well as barely beating them to Pepper Street in Muncy. They are then seen working at Koppers Inc, a Railroad Tie Supplier in Montgomery, which is where the old Conrail gons in the train's consist are going. The train parallels the NS Buffalo Line at CP Muncy as they work at this customer.

After finishing their work at Koppers, LV-2 begins their trip home, seen as they gun it for the hill at Bishop Lane as they approach the bridge over the Susquehanna River back into Muncy, with another shot in town to be had at Aquatic Lane. We then decided to catch them at Hiller Road again after they finished working at a plastic industry to the east.

While waiting for the LV-2 at the Susquehanna Riverwalk in downtown Williamsport, we were surprised by the Avis Turn crew, which was making a run to Jersey Shore Steel in Montoursville with a pair of their ex P&S SW9s, LVRR 239 and 231 with one boxcar. The LV-2 awaiting them to clear the main in Montoursville and are then seen as they roll through town for one more shot. We then caught the return trip of the Avis Turn at Maynard Street before heading out.

Thanks for watching!
