‘The Lads in Navy Blue’ is a British patriotic song written in 1899 by Frank Dean under the pen name Harry Dacre. The lyrics recount the prominence of the British army in music and patriotism over the Royal Navy. The song then recounts the splendour and excellence of the Royal Navy, from the modern 1899 day, to the times of Horatio Nelson during the Napoleonic Wars.
