We are painting ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ which is a woodblock print originally created by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830.
This is one of the print from the series ‘36 views of Mt. Fuji’

The print depicts three boats moving through a storm-tossed sea, with a large wave forming a spiral in the centre and Mt. Fuji visible in the background.

Prepare for your art session
sketch the artwork
Paint the artwork

I have used the following materials for this session
-sharp pencil
-kneadable eraser
-ruler
-washi tape
-watercolour sketchbook
-permanent fine tip pen
-gouache paints
-brushes
-2 cups of water
-rough rag
-paint palette

In this video I am using my favourite Himi gouache paints, but considering the paint by number nature of the painting you can use any colors- crayons, watercolours, pencil, oil etc to follow this tutorial.

Similarly I am painting on watercolour pad but you can be painting on any surface of your choice. Canvas, loose paper, even a bag. Let the world be your oyster.
