“It’s a basic human right to get where you need to go, and to be able to do it without getting killed.” – Kim Lucas, acting director of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure.

This video tells the story of how Pittsburgh’s former mayor took action on building safer, Complete Streets, why the city’s new mayor is picking up the baton with a focus on equity, and how city staff are making progress that spans administrations. A Complete Streets policy passed in 2016 is providing the city with the guidance they need to design and build safer streets in the city.

Complete Streets are streets for everyone—designed and managed to prioritize safety, comfort, and access to destinations for all people who need to use a street.
