इस संहिता के प्रावधानों के तहत अपराधियों को कौन सी सज़ा दी जा सकती हैं-
01 मौत
02 आजीवन कारावास, यानी किसी व्यक्ति के शेष जीवन के लिए कारावास
03 कारावास, जो दो प्रकार का है, अर्थात्: -
a कठोर अर्थात् कठिन परिश्रम से
b सरल
04 संपत्ति की जब्ती
05 जुर्माना / अर्थदण्ड
06 सामुदायिक सेवा।

The punishments to which offenders are liable under the provisions of this Sanhita
are—
(a) Death;
(b) Imprisonment for life, that is to say, imprisonment for the remainder of a person’s
natural life;
(c) Imprisonment, which is of two descriptions, namely:—
(1) Rigorous, that is, with hard labour;
(2) Simple;
(d) Forfeiture of property;
(e) Fine;
(f) Community Service.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita is the criminal code of the Republic of India. When it enters force, it will replace the Indian Penal Code enacted in 1860. The BNS covers all aspects of criminal law, including offenses, punishments, defenses, and procedures.

भारतीय न्याय संहिता भारत के लिए प्रस्तावित एक नयी न्याय संहिता है। यह एक व्यापक संहिता है जो वर्तमान भारतीय दंड संहिता, आपराधिक प्रक्रिया संहिता और साक्ष्य अधिनियम का स्थान लेगी। 11 अगस्त 2023 को भारत के गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने लोकसभा में भारतीय न्याय संहिता विधेयक, 2023 पेश किया।
