This is the quickest way to enable this feature from starting a new game.

Update: This works on the definitive edition! You will need to press up on the d-pad twice instead of right (modern controls)

Captured with the PS2 version on PS4 and the Xbox disc version running on Xbox 360.

I didn't realize this for many years but discovered it about 10 years ago. Its nice you could do this without modding the game and on console!
