As of September 10, 2025, prominent conservative activist Charlie Kirk has been assassinated. The 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA was fatally shot during an event at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah, and authorities are currently conducting a manhunt for the shooter.
Details of the shooting
What happened: Kirk was shot in the neck while taking questions from an audience during a “Prove Me Wrong” debate at an outdoor campus event. A video of the incident shows him falling from his chair after a single shot was fired. He was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Investigation: The Utah Department of Public Safety and the FBI are jointly investigating what Utah Governor Spencer Cox called a “political assassination”. Officials believe the single shot was fired from the roof of the nearby Losee Center building.
