Much as Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron is inspired by, but not strictly based on, the book How Do You Live? this video is more a rundown of the meanings inspired by watching the film, than it is a pure review. While it technically contains spoilers, this is also a film that can't really be "spoiled" by revealing what happens in it. In fact, it can only help. (Or it would have helped me.) This is a deeply personal film about Hayao Miyazaki that tells you almost nothing factual about him, but you will leave it knowing deeply how he feels about a great many things, about himself, and about life. This is a film about finding out who you are, through forgiveness, through courage, and through acceptance, especially of others' perspectives, and the substance beneath their surface. Enjoy!
