Kitgum District police commander Jackson Baryampika has confirmed the suspension of the Namokora police post officer-in-charge Philip Ociti following the death of a resident over land conflicts in the area. Baryampika said the suspension is related to alleged negligence of duty and the officer will face a disciplinary committee. A report from the residents showed that Ociti who later handed himself to the police allegedly shot Kenneth Onen twice with a bow and arrow after Onen after he used a tractor to plough his maize garden. At least 20 huts were burnt, and animals stolen, household property destroyed during reprisal attacks by the deceased’s relatives.
