Episode 43 - A matter of meta

What's the role of a reference-framework in enterprise-architecture? And when we talk about a metamodel or metaframework, what does that 'meta-' mean?

The answer here is that both provide a means to manage the challenge of building the right balance between 'same and different' in an architecture. A reference-framework provides commonality across a local context, whilst maintaining a connection to broader-scope standards; and the recursion of 'meta-' allows us to build context-specific models, methods and frameworks that are all based upon a common core. This episode provides a brief overview of how this works in real-world practice.
