Secret Service Acting Director Ronald Rowe says, “multiple operational and communications failures” and "complacency" among some employees allowed the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

U.S. House passes a bill requiring major party presidential nominees to get the same Secret Service protection as a sitting president.

The House also passes bills to overturn the EPA's tailpipe emission rule designed to move away from gas-powered cars and small trucks to cleaner technologies like EV's and hybrids and to block federal money for undocumented immigrants to cities that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities, known as sanctuary cities.

President Joe Biden holds a Cabinet meeting, joined by First Lady Jill Biden. The President, when asked about Israel-Hamas ceasefire talks, says, "a lot of things don't look realistic until we get them done" and "we have to keep at it."
