Ajaz Ahmad Mir is contesting as an Independent candidate from Zainapora constituency. Mir, 38, had won the Zainapora seat (then known as Wachi) in 2014 on the PDP ticket, defeating the NC’s Showkat Hussain Ganai. He filed papers as an Independent after the PDP denied him a ticket, and has now got the Jamaat’s support.
