Chapter 4. Thriving in Life’s Toughest Times

Recently the world has experienced a life-threatening pandemic termed COVID-19. More than 2.5 million people were infected, with hundreds of thousands of deaths. During this time one of the greatest needs of medical professionals was personal protective equipment, or PPE. PPE refers to protective clothing, helmets, gloves, face shields, goggles, face masks, respirators, and other equipment designed to protect medical professionals from exposure to infection or illness.
Because COVID-19 is airborne, it was crucial for medical professionals to have the necessary protective equipment. During the crisis there was a shortage of PPE in some areas, so many health-care workers contracted COVID-19. Although these medical personnel were extremely busy serving others, they were not immune from the virus. They needed PPE to survive.
