President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has ordered the dissolution of landing site committees on all lakes in Uganda due to controversies surrounding them among fishermen. The President directed the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to implement the decision.

Lt. Col. Mercy Tukahirwa, formerly the commandant of the Fisheries Protection Unit—who recently asked fishermen to vote for Museveni in order to fish freely on the lakes—has been reassigned to the office of the Senior Presidential Advisor on Defence and Security, Lt. Gen. Proscovia Nalweyiso.
