You can approach the Mittellegi Ridge (Mittellegigrat) via different tracks. Either take the Jungfraujoch Train from Grindelwald or Kleine Scheideeg to the Eismeer station inside the Eiger and hike the Eismeer glacier, or climb up to the Osteeg Hut, before climbing further up to the Mittellegi Hut on the ridge it self. The Mittellegi Hut will be you base for climbing the Eiger.

The Mittellegi Ridge (Mittellegigrat) follows the north-east ridge of the Eiger to the summit from where you can see Grindelwald to the north and the south face of the Eiger and the Eismeer glacier to the south.

You descent via the south-west ridge of the Eiger until the Eigerjoch from where you traverse a second alpine climbing route to reach the Mönchjochhut on the Aletsch glacier.

The Mittellegi Ridge (Mittellegi grat) is graded D on the alpine climbing grade scale.
