Maharashtra voted today in civic body elections across 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai’s cash-rich BMC. Polling is underway for more than 2,800 seats, with 3.48 crore voters deciding the fate of over 15,000 candidates. The BMC elections are being held after a year-long delay, with the last polls conducted in 2017. Counting and final results will be announced tomorrow. These are the first civic elections after the splits in the Shiv Sena and the NCP, with new Mahayuti and Mahavikas Aghadi alliances contesting.
