We have learned about people who grow up in a cultic environment who don’t have a good chance of breaking that cycle while they are still in the cult bubble. But what about the people who understand that ab*se not only goes unnoticed in these cults, but is even celebrated, and they join for this reason? Hannah’s story illustrates how when the outside world can clearly see a group where ab*se thrives, and they don’t want to get caught, they can take advantage of the group’s strict principles in the name of God, putting the most vulnerable at risk.
