This is a traditional song, originating in England in the 18th century as "The Unfortunate Rake", which has become a part of the folk and blues landscape of both the UK and the US. St. James Hospital was a leper hospital in London.

This video takes you through the simple chord changes and, pitched as it is in Dm, gets the fingers moving through simple chords along the length of the fretboard. The video uses live action, close-up and chord diagrams to demonstrate the chords.
