A Gongfu Teacup is more than just a vessel - it’s an extension of the tea ritual. In this video, I’ll take you through the full process of making one, from raw clay to a finished Shino-glazed cup.

I start with around 120g of mixed dark stoneware, trimming off a little clay to achieve the perfect small size for gongfu tea. On the wheel, I focus on a clean, balanced form - simple yet elegant, allowing the glaze to speak for itself.

The next day, at the leather-hard stage, I refine the foot ring with just a few simple trimming tools. No unnecessary changes, just careful attention to proportion and weight, leaving a subtle, functional base.

Finally, I reveal the finished gongfu cups, fired in a gas kiln and covered with warm, rich Shino glaze – a surface full of depth, variation, and character.
