Sterling Infrastructure just announced its acquisition of CEC Facilities, a Texas-based company that offers complementary mechanical and electric contracting services...but a whole new kind of customer!

While Sterling has been rapidly building its E-infrastructure client base and building lots of data centers, it has not had the exposure to semiconductor companies.

With this acquisition, Sterling will now have CEC's semiconductor clients including Meta (META) and Texas Instruments (TXN).

This is big news in the infrastructure space, and it has an enormous effect on Sterling's future revenue and profit potential. With larger companies like Emcor (EME) or Comfort Systems (FIX), an acquisition of this size ($505 million) would not be big enough to move the needle, but for Sterling, with a market capitalization of $6.8 billion, the potential for revenue streams from new semiconductor partners opens up a lot of growth potential.

Shares of Sterling (STRL) were up as much as 7% on the news, and it will be interesting to see what kind of projects the company starts working on with its entree into the world of infrastructure buildout for semiconductor manufacturing companies.
