Bangladesh Air Force has tender 24 new PL-5EII Air to Air Missile. Earlier this year,
the Air Force bought 24 PL-5EII missile missiles which was completed in April this year.

Chinese PL-5EII is the original version of the American AIM-9 Sidewinder missile.
This missile infra red homing, multi-element duel band detector has been used.
The active infrared and laser proximity fuse is used as a fuse.
This missile has an all aspect capability, allowing the off-boresight angle of
the missiles to be approximately 25 degrees and after launching from the missile pylon,
it is about 40 degrees. That is, it is a high maneuverable Air to Air missile.

The missile is able to take 7G + loads during manpower. It is capable of hitting an
enemy aircraft at Mach-2.5 speed by its solid fuel rocket engine. Its infrared seeker
or heat-seeking capability hits the target by detecting the exhauster / engine exhauster
/ engine of the aircraft.

The operational range of missile 18KM is the launch platform of our F-7BG and BGI

There are about 60-70 + PL-5 and 24 PL-5EII in the current inventory of Air Force.
