What is Gelato vs Ice Cream?

That's a question that's been floating around for years but have the lines been crossed recently?

Every time you go to a scoop shop or even your local supermarket, you find Gelato. It's the new "fad" outside of Italy (who have always sold it). In Italy, there are laws regarding what Gelato can and can't be, the same can't be said for elsewhere in the world.

In this weeks video, we dive a little in to the difference and make some of each. We also use Sakura Coffee from Anorak Coffee (not affiliated) which is linked here:

If you want to try these recipes (with or without the Sakura Coffee), the recipes are below:

Gelato:
700g Milk
150g Double/Heavy Cream
180g Sugar
65g SMP
1 Egg yolk
1g Stablizer
(Coffee Granules if required)

Ice Cream:
500g Milk
425g Double/Heavy Cream
190g sugar
50 SMP
1 Egg yolk
(Coffee granules if required)

Making Gelato does really need a gelato specific machine as mentioned in the video but you can achieve something close at home.
