They “banned” Bitcoin in China… so I tried using it anyway.
Lightning worked. On-chain worked. The Great Firewall? Not so much.



I took a train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen to see how “banned” Bitcoin really is. Along the way: cash-for-BTC in Hong Kong, a giant mainland station wander, WeChat-only life, karaoke chaos, and a test—sending sats inside China (to myself) with both Lightning and on-chain. The results might surprise you.
