Meryl Streep has a bad trip in the trailer for the upcoming HBO Max film Let Them All Talk. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, with a screenplay from Deborah Eisenberg, Let Them All Talk tells the story of Alice Hughes. A celebrated author, Hughes goes on a journey with two of her friends in an effort to unwind and heal some old wounds. Joined by her nephew, and her new literary agent, Hughes’ trip doesn’t go quite the way she hoped.

During recent promotion of the film, it was revealed that the dialogue was almost entirely improvised. Eisenberg was available to assist with ideas and character biographies, but it was up to the cast to figure out what they wanted to say. Set to premiere on December 10, Let Them All Talk also stars Candice Bergen, Gemma Chan, Lucas Hedges, and Dianne Wiest. The movie, which is more comedic in tone than some of Soderbergh’s recent output, won’t be the last time the acclaimed director collaborates with HBO Max. Back in January, Soderbergh signed a three year deal to develop content both for the streaming service and for HBO more broadly. Given that the deal includes first-look rights to his features, fans should expect that the Academy Award winner will help to lift the streamer’s status as it attempts to compete in an increasingly crowded field.

Let Them All Talk's synopsis reads as follows: The story of a celebrated author (Meryl Streep) who takes a journey with some old friends to have some fun and heal old wounds. Her nephew comes along to wrangle the ladies and finds himself involved with a young literary agent.
