In winter, the sun says a quick hello
and then a see you later -
never a good bye.

With every sun rise
the world is painted with colour
and a promise of a new day.

The long cold nights
have a splendour
and significance. A reminder that:
it is the season for rest and retreat.

I used to fear and resist the winter
but now, I am slowly learning
how to appreciate it.
