The National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) performs Anna Clyne’s “Sound and Fury” with conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto. Clyne’s 2019 composition draws on two great works of art for its inspiration: Haydn’s Symphony No. 60,“Il Distratto,” and Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.”

Each summer, Carnegie Hall’s national youth ensembles bring together the brightest young American instrumentalists for free intensive training and performances on some of the world’s greatest stages. After being unable to gather in the summer of 2020, the 100 musicians of NYO-USA (ages 16–19) convened in July 2021 at Purchase College outside New York City. Their three weeks of coaching and rehearsals culminated in digital concert performances.

This digital premiere is made possible by Morgan Stanley.
