about the song from the creator:

My song High Tides was written not long after me and my ex girlfriend had a miscarriage. When we found out, not only were we so very devastated, but we also couldn't even talk to each other for quite some time. About 2 months after it happened, I went and visited her for a few days and we worked through everything. We decided that life does fault you and that is just how it works in life. We also decided to write about it, as that was the only way we could move forward. When listening to the song, people say it sounds like a break up song, and I agree it does, all the way up until the 3rd verse with me referencing 'Then there's you, looking lost in a hospital bed, weakened mind of guilt and you cry. I think you wanted to keep it'. When the girl was laying in the hospital bed, giving birth, she knew something was wrong. And we both felt so guilty that it happened because we were young. I was 17, she was about to turn 18.

I ended up finishing writing the song by myself because it became too much for her, and I didn't want to put her through any more pain. She sat at the end of her bed while I played the song on piano looking for the right melody. And she started whistling to the melody I played on the piano. When I went in to record the demo for the AI, it took me about 17 takes to get it right because every time I thought about the beautiful girl we lost, I broke down. Eventually though, we sent it to Columbia Records with hope we could get signed, but instead they decided to leak the song yk. A lot like the other ones. About 19 of them, and 9 have been released from memory.

If you have any questions, please ask me them, because that is what I am wanting out of this. I think Grace is going to attach the email for you.

Much love,
Jeremy (Evangeline) Buckby
