High Speed Art: "The Flower Gatherer" Negative painting art technique by artist Teresa Mundt

Описание к видео High Speed Art: "The Flower Gatherer" Negative painting art technique by artist Teresa Mundt

Another high speed acrylic artwork called "The Flower Gatherer" in action. I've started filming half way through... if you're interested in seeing how I develop the layers of colour that make up the background at the beginning, check out my previous video "The Florist's Apprentice". The initial process is much the same.

I start my paintings by "doodling" with charcoal in a haphazard fashion then glaze over with transparent acrylic paint. I then overlay with opaque acrylic paint (this is the point at which this video begins). I'm just blocking in colour and I'm not sure what the subject matter of the painting will be at this point. Once the canvas is well saturated with colour, I'll sit down and study it, rotating the canvas all the while until I see something hidden in the painting. This is the point at which I'll settle on the subject matter of the painting. I'll go back to the easel at this point and employ negative painting techniques to coax the subject matter out from the colourful background. Now you'll see the painting come alive and should get an inkling of where the painting is finally going to end up.

I always have new artworks underway, and there will be more videos to come!
