So happy to introduce you to Ronald Scheidler, an Eharp player who studied with Eddie Alkire himself. Here he is in his own words: "In 1947 my father (who also played the steel guitar) bought a Rickenbacker 6 sting steel guitar and started giving me lessons on the E7 tuning. After a few years of taking lessons from my father I told him that I wanted to take lessons from someone else. That’s when I started taking lessons from Eddie Alkire starting in 1954 at his studio located in Easton, Pa. Mr. Alkire put the 1st six strings on the Rickenbacker and in less than a month my father bought me an Eharp. In 1958 Mr.Alkire entered me in the American Guild of Music in Buffalo, NY in the student artist division playing Brahms Hungarian Dance No 5 in which I placed 1st. Again in 1959 he entered me again out in Chicago playing Brahms Hungarian Dance No 6 and I came in 1st once more. Upon graduating from high school joined the Navy and took my Eharp with me aboard a destroyer located out of Charleston, SC. There I formed a country band in which we played basically at every port throughout the countries located in the Mediterranean Sea area. After I got out of the Navy started my own R&B band that I had for 30 years. Stopped playing for approximately 6 years and then joined a country band for another 20 years which broke up during COVID. I still am actively playing my Eharp and just hooked up with a jazz guitarist. Then on July 10th of this year we made the recordings that I just sent to you."
