Goal of the Month contenders (January 1974)

The contenders for the Match of the Day Goal of the Month accolade from January 1974, including Alan Mullery's cracking goal for Fulham against Leicester City which was voted the BBC's Goal of the Season. By comparison with today the BBC had a very low number of games each month from which it could select its contenders for Goal of the Month (about a dozen matches shown as highlights on MotD or Sportsnight), hence the fact that three of the goals are from the same match (Man City v Coventry).
