Luke 8:1-3: The Gospel highlights women like Joanna and Susanna who, unlike those who hoard wealth, used their personal resources to support Jesus and the apostles in their ministry, showing how money can be used for great good.

Life of St. Januarius (San Gennaro):
St. Januarius was a bishop in Italy during a time of intense Christian persecution. He was arrested while visiting imprisoned Christians and condemned to be killed by wild beasts. In a miraculous turn, the animals refused to attack him. Angered, his persecutors had him beheaded instead. A vial of his blood, preserved in Naples, continues to be part of an ongoing miracle where the dried blood liquefies three times a year. This is seen as a sign of God's blessing and protection over the city.

Modern Application:
The readings and the life of St. Januarius call us to reflect on our own lives. Are we using our careers, talents, and money for our own selfish gain, or are we using them to build up the Kingdom of God? We are all called to be good stewards of the gifts we've been given and to support the mission of the Church and our local communities.
