METAL DETECTING RESEARCH to find OLD GHOST TOWNS

I have used the USGS Historical Topographic Map explorer to research and find old town sites, ghost towns or old mining towns to metal detect at. This website, when used in coordination with Google Earth, can help you find old maps and cross reference them to what is currently at that site.

I included a clip of a recent metal detecting adventure where I used the USGS map website to locate. At the site, I found a coin that was 146 years old!

If you want to find the old sites to metal detect at, you will want to use this website to find them.
