TransPRK: „No-Touch" Surface Treatment with SCHWIND AMARIS Laser Systems

Описание к видео TransPRK: „No-Touch" Surface Treatment with SCHWIND AMARIS Laser Systems

The SCHWIND AMARIS laser systems provide a sophisticated approach to carry out no-touch, all-laser surface ablations. TransPRK treats refractive errors by superimposing an aspheric ablation profile with a defined epithelial thickness profile based on literature values and mean epithelial profiles of large based populations. The TransPRK is a transepithelial single step treatment that avoids the eye coming into contact with any instrument. TransPRK is an advanced surface laser treatment because the epithelium is removed by the excimer laser more precisely and uniformly than with either manual or alcohol assisted debridement.TransPRK applies an epithelial thickness profile that is thinner in the centre than in the periphery. Because TransPRK applies the laser beam directly over the epithelium, it acts as a smoothing agent for the residual stromal bed. TransPRK applied to regular corneas provides efficacious, safe, stable and reliable results. Transepithelial approaches allow maximum correspondence between the corneal topography and the ablation profile. The sophisticated AMARIS software compensates for the slight difference in photoablative rates of the stroma and the epithelial tissue. TransPRK in combination with corneal wavefront is preferable for patients who need retreatment after radial keratotomy or corneal transplantation. Moreover it can be used to treat haze, scarred corneal tissue and keratoconus before corneal collagen crosslinking. TransPRK is a versatile approach - it is useful in all cases where a difficult epithelial flap is expected or when the epithelium covers corneal irregularities of the stromal tissue. Using AMARIS TransPRK ablation profiles shortens the overall treatment time, minimises the risk of corneal dehydration, and speeds up the healing process.
