One of our annual Christmas traditions is to visit the Eden Project at the end of term to check our their Christmas lights display. It's truly a magical place to be after dark with the biomes lit up and you can't help but get into the Christmas spirit after visiting. Although this was filmed last year, their promotional videos for 2025 look like similar lights displays will be in place.

This was filmed on a very rainy evening last December but, once you've walked down, most of your time will be spent in the two biomes anyway. The rainforest biome has an array of different coloured lights and features, including rainbow jellyfish hanging down, and rainbow strands at the far end of the biome. Dramatic music gives the place a real atmosphere, and some of the pieces they play will leave you with goosebumps (Hans Zimmer's "Time" never fails!)

The Mediterranean biomes centrepiece (new for 2024 and looking like it's returning for 2025) is the light up rod display, all to the soundtrack of Christmas songs like you've never heard before, given a techno/dance update. What is worth noting is that this used to be a free event, and would be included within your ticket price or as part of your locals pass/members entry. However, they are now charging for entry to the biomes after 4pm at a cost of £5.50 per person (5+). Still significantly cheaper than sister attraction Heligan's Christmas lights entry but it will come as a bit of a shock if you, like us, have been attending this for free for some time.
