I couldn’t spend almost a week in Los Angeles and not link up with beauty and fashion influencer (and my longtime friend) Sydne Summer! I knew she’d be the perfect person to teach the wonders of Indian cuisine to. Come with me as I eat Indian food with Sydne Summer in Los Angeles, California!

It’s always great to see Sydne. She and I are both from Miami, and we go way back because she was really good friends with my sister in middle school. But now she’s a huge fashion and beauty influencer with an incredible blog that teaches women the latest trends, beauty tips, and more!

For this Indian food adventure, we stopped by Biriyani-Kabob-House, a Halal restaurant that sells Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani cuisine. Inside, I met Kareem, and took a look at their massive menu. Then, we watched them prepare biryani, mixed meat kebabs, dal makhani, dal tarka, and more!

We started off with a mango lassi, which was the perfect thing for a hot day. They also brought us a Hyderabadi lamb biryani, but we started with the chicken tikka masala. It’s the national dish of Great Britain and one of the most popular dishes in the Western world!

I taught her how to eat it with the garlic naan. It was so creamy, with big chunks of chicken. It’s no wonder it’s so popular! Then, we went with the dal makhani, which contains black lentils and coriander. The dal tadka is a thicker dal, and a little lighter in color.

The dal tadka was light and is vegan, and doesn’t have any ghee in it. Then, we jumped on the aloo gobi, which is potatoes and cauliflower in a nice masala, and baingan bharta, which is an amazing eggplant dish with veggies! They were both amazing with the stuffed naan, which contained tons of cheese, like a grilled cheese sandwich!

We loved them both, especially the baingan bharta. The slow-roasted eggplant fell apart in my mouth. The lamb vindaloo was super tender, and I loved the vinegary gravy. It also wasn’t overbearing with the spices.

Next was the green chicken, which was covered in an amazing, minty, cilantro-based gravy. It was so good! It almost had a Cuban-like flair to it, and had a bit of spice to it. I’d never had this dish before, but the gravy was good enough to drink!

Then, we jumped into the kebab platter, which contained chicken seekh kebabs, lamb, beef, and more. They had all been baked in the tandoor, so they were smoky and melt-in-your-mouth tender, and full of flavor from the marinade. I loved the green raita, too! The beef was unreal!

Next, we had the nihari, which is a beef stew from Pakistan. It’s one of my favorite Pakistani dishes. It was too good and went down so nice and easy. Then, we jumped on the lamb shank curry.

It was so good, I had to just dive in and take a big bite! It had a sweetness and contained an amazing warming spice that I loved! I was in heaven! It also had a bit of a backdoor spice that snuck up on me.

The lamb shank biryani was also delicious. I taught Sydne to eat it with her hands and mix in the green raita. It was fantastic, but I’d eaten so much that I needed a break.

Finally, we had pistachio and malai kulfis for dessert! My malai was icy and dense, like a cross between ice cream and a sorbet. It was a great palate cleanser after so much rich and flavorful food!
