If a chat with a whatsapp contact has suddenly disappeared from your WhatsApp application then there are two things you have to check. Firs thing what you have to check is, make sure that you have not archived the chat accidentally. So, you go to this chat at the bottom and tap on this archived and make sure that the chat is not archived. In case it is archived, it will be hidden from the chat screen. So, what you have to do is, you have to tap and hold the chat and then select Unarchive button. Then next thing what you have to do is, you have to go to the top and you have to search for the name whose chat is deleted and after that you have to tap on the top and then make sure that this disappearing messages is off. Suppose if you have enabled this disappearing messages then what happens is this will delete the chat after 7 days. So, the chats with this contact will be automatically deleted. So, make sure to turn off this option. So, check these two settings and hopefully the chat should not disappear from your whatsapp application.
